What exactly does Paychunk do?

Paychunk is a paycheck-based budgeting app. Each time you get paid, it helps you split that check into needs, wants, and savings so your money has a plan before it's spent. You can also scan receipts to track spending — all without ever linking your bank account.

Is Paychunk really free?

Yes. The core budgeting and receipt-scanning features are free. The free plan includes 30 receipt scans and 2 paychecks per year. Premium — unlimited scans, sub-budgets, and export options — is an optional $3.99/year.

What's the difference between the free plan and Premium?

Free gives you 30 receipt scans and 2 income entries per year, with limits resetting on your signup anniversary. Premium ($3.99/year) unlocks unlimited receipt scans, sub-budgets, and data export. There's no trial to cancel and no auto-upgrade — you stay free until you choose to upgrade.

How does AI receipt scanning work?

Point your camera at any receipt (or upload an image) and Paychunk's AI extracts the merchant, date, total, and individual items automatically — no manual entry. Receipts are processed securely in the cloud using Google's Gemini AI, and your data is never sold to third parties.

Can I use Paychunk if I get paid weekly or monthly?

Absolutely. Paychunk supports any pay frequency — weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly. Your budget periods align with your actual pay schedule, so you always know exactly what you can spend between now and your next check.

Why doesn't Paychunk link to my bank account?

Privacy is the whole point. A lot of people don't want to hand their bank credentials to an app — and doing so shouldn't be a requirement to make a budget. Paychunk tracks spending through receipt scanning and quick manual entry, so your bank accounts stay completely private.

How is my data kept private?

Paychunk never links to your bank, never sells your data, and never shares it with advertisers or third parties. Your information stays in your private account, and you can delete all of it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

What is the 50/30/20 budget rule?

The 50/30/20 rule splits your after-tax income into 50% needs (rent, utilities, groceries), 30% wants (dining, entertainment), and 20% savings and debt payoff. Paychunk applies it automatically to each paycheck — and you can try it yourself with our free budget calculator.

How do I upgrade to Premium?

Tap the upgrade prompt anywhere in the app, or go to Settings → Subscription. Premium is $3.99/year, billed through the App Store.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, and all of your data is permanently removed. You can also review the process on our Delete My Data page.

Which devices is Paychunk available on?

Paychunk is available on iPhone and iPad through the App Store. You can download it here.
